Fruitport District Library

A message from the Library Director

Hi, everyone.
It is bittersweet for me to announce that today, having accepted another librarian position at a college library, was meant to be my last day at the Fruitport District Library. However, due to circumstances of quite unfortunate timing, I cannot be there today. I am sorry that you are finding out this way. I would have preferred to tell you sooner; but, again, due to various circumstances of unfortunate timing, that could not happen.
First, I want to say that I meant every word I said a few weeks ago when I said that I was proud of the community’s response to the changes the COVID-19 crisis forced upon the Library. I am proud of you. You have worked with us. You have been patient. You have followed the rules demanded by the State of Michigan. Thank you.
I am thankful for the opportunity to serve you all. I have grown as a librarian and as a person because of you. When I started at the Library, you warmly welcomed me. You took the effort to get to know me. Thank you, so very much.
Many changes are in store for the Fruitport District Library. However, in preparing with Erica for the immediate future, we are trying to maintain consistency as much as possible.
Please remember that due to continuing COVID-19 precautions, all items that enter the building will be quarantined for 4 days (for 5 days if returned on Tuesday); and no there are currently no fines on returned items. We remind you to wear a mask when you come, or take one at the front desk if you forget or do not have a mask.
There are new hours until more staff members are hired:
Mondays, Thursdays – 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm
Wednesdays, Fridays – 10:00 am to 2:00 pm
Saturdays – 10:00 am to 2:00 pm
Closed Tuesdays, Sundays
Thank you all, again. I wish you good will. You are in my thoughts.
Adam DeWitt
